Unseen Museums: Children’s Discovery Museum
There are so many sightseeing attractions in Bangkok, along with a host of entertainment options to enjoy here in the Sukhumvit area. But we’ve noticed that many of our guests come and go without even realising how many amazing museums are found here in Bangkok.
With that in mind, we’re publishing a series of blog posts on the ‘Unseen Museums’ of Bangkok. For guests staying at Centre Point Sukhumvit, we’re recommending the Children’s Discovery Museum. Of course, this is an especially good option for families spending time in Bangkok.
Children’s Discovery Museum Background
The Children’s Discovery Museum opened in 2001, but it was the extensive 70-million-baht renovation in 2014 that has really made the difference. The newly opened museum is undeniably impressive – both inside and out – with enough activities to keep children engaged for the better part of a day.
This is an interactive learning centre that encourages young visitors to take a hands-on approach to discovery. Visitors become active participants in the learning process rather than simply sitting by and listening to information as it’s presented. In other words, this is a place where young, inquisitive minds meet their match.
Highlights of the Children’s Discovery Museum
The museum consists of a variety of permanent and rotating exhibits that are designed to stimulate the mind and inspire further learning. Here are a few of the highlights:
- Exhibits: The core offering of the museum is a collection of state-of-the-art museums spread across three floors. Each is a celebration of discovery and exploration, with specific exhibits catering to every age group from toddlers to pre-teens. Learning about the world has never been so much fun!
- Innovation Station: In this dedicated space, young visitors learn about science, technology, engineering, art and math through hands-on learning stations. It comprises two overarching stations – a science lab and a creation space. Both offer young guests the chance to invent or tinker with designs, or even to create projects on their own.
- Early Childhood Programmes: The museum also features several stations that are specifically suited to very young learners. These begin with classes that are designed for children under one year of age, and continue with spaces for ‘playful learners’ and ‘early explorers’.
This is only a sampling of the exhibits and attractions on offer at the Children’s Discovery Museum. If you would like to learn more about what’s being hosted during your visit to Bangkok, have a look at their website to plan your visit.
Visiting the Children’s Discovery Museum
